About Me
Praised for her “sophisticated, compelling phrasing” and her “bright, commanding mezzo soprano”,
Rachael Bell is quickly establishing herself as an enthusiastic and thoughtful storyteller.
A passionate operatic artist, Rachael is thrilled to be making her principal role debut as Flora Bervoix in La traviata with Kentucky Opera this November, first appearing in the chorus of This Little Light of Mine last season. She also appeared in the chorus for Massanet's Thaïs at the Spoleto Festival USA. Last season, she joined the Spoleto Festival USA in their critically acclaimed world premiere production of Chaker's Ruinous Gods as an Extinct Bird and Mother, and charmed audiences as Lapák the Dog and Mrs. Páskova in The Cunning Little Vixen with CCM Opera at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she earned her Masters of Music in Voice. She was also thrilled to workshop the roles of the Second Tendril and Chamber Chorus with Cincinnati Opera and Opera Fusion: New Works in their workshop of Mazzoli/Vavrek's newest opera Lincoln in the Bardo, premiering at the Metropolitan Opera in 2026. Other favorite roles of hers include Piacere (cover) in Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno (Opera NEO), Dorabella in Così fan tutte (Vanderbilt Opera Theatre), Ottavia in L’incoronazione di Poppea (Trentino Music Festival), Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro (Utah Valley Opera Festival), Florence Pike in Albert Herring (VOT), and Fanny Price in Mansfield Park (VOT).
A dedicated concert artist, Rachael most recently sparkled as the Alto Soloist in Bach’s Mass in B Minor with the Spoleto Festival USA. She is set to join the Bach Society of Dayton this October, performing as the Alto Soloist in their performance of Vivaldi's Gloria, Charpentier's Te Deum, and Purcell's Come Ye Sons of Art. Rachael has appeared regularly with the Spoleto Festival USA, the Bach Ensemble at St. Thomas, Seven Hills Baroque, Summermusik Cincinnati, and Bach Collegium Cincinnati, performing as the Alto Soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Magnificat, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater, and Haydn’s The Creation.
When offstage, Rachael teaches voice, acting, and piano privately in Cincinnati, and is the founder of Vocal Impact, her self-made business that helps classical and musical theatre singers develop the necessary artistic and music business skills to thrive in the professional performing arts. She also serves as the Director of Outreach and Season Design for Seven Hills Baroque, specializing in Baroque and early Classical repertoire. Outside of music, she enjoys board games, painting, ice cream, and visiting zoos and National Parks with her family.
